Daily Skincare Products & Simple Beauty Routine

Every couple of months I change up my skincare routine---partly because I run out of product and partly because my skin gets so used to a product after a few months that it becomes immune to it's benefits. All of the skincare products shown here are all fairly new additions to my skincare routine---I've been using most of these for the past month or so.

Let's get started!
Step One: CLEANSE
I've recently started using the Weil for Origins Mega-Bright Skin Illuminating Cleanser. This cleanser is a creamy formula which turns into a milky foam when you add water. This product was a littler pricier than the regular Origins products, but a little goes a long way with this, so I think this should last me a while. All in all, I'm really liking this (much more than the Never a Dull Moment Skin-Brightening Cleanser). It leaves my skin feeling very clean & looking super bright!

Step Two: TONE
I tend to go through toner phases---years when I'll use toner, and years when I'll skip it (for no reason at all). About a month ago, as I was trying to figure out why my face was breaking out and what I could do to change it, I decided it was time to go back to toner. I picked up the Dermaglos Hydrating De-congestive Toner from the pharmacy and have been very happy with the results. Gives my face that extra clean feeling after cleansing and since it doesn't contain alcohol, my skin doesn't feel dry afterward! Unfortunately, this is only available in Argentina.

Step Three: HYDRATE (with a spritz)
I'd say the biggest change I've made to my routine is swapping out moisturizer for this Vitamin C Energizing Face Spritz from The Body Shop. Sounds like a pretty dramatic move, right? Well, I felt like the face oil I was using (which about 6 months ago, I SWEARED by) was starting to make my face breakout. I then tried a cream moisturizer for a very short period of time, and felt like that wasn't improving my skin either. Finally, I remembered this face spritz that I had picked up a while back that I never really used. It was one of those purchases that I thought was cool, but didn't really know when, where or how I'd use it. I decided to do something drastic (haha) and start spritzing my face after washing & toning.  I let the product air-dry on my face and then go about my normal makeup routine. So far, so good. I couldn't be happier. My skin is clearer and feels hydrated, but not greasy. Now only time will tell if this product is here to stay in my skincare routine or if I will be changing things up once again in about 2-3 months.

Step Four: FOCUS ON THE EYES
Yes, the day has come where I have to use eye cream. After applying my face spritz and letting it dry, I apply my Neutrogena Ultra-Light Eye Cream. I pat this under and around the side of my eye and let sink in before I apply my makeup. I especially like this cream because it has a glimmery effect to it. Often times I won't even apply concealer over it because the shimmering effect brightens the under eye area on it's own.

Step Five: FOCUS ON THE LIPS
Just like my Vitamin C Energizing Face Spritz, "The Lip Scrub" by Sara Happ is another product that I've had for a long time and never used. It just sat there on my vanity in it's box tied with a pretty little bow. Recently, I started using it and realized how amazing it really is! I've suffered from chapped, dry lips all my life and why I didn't bother to use this when I first bought it is beyond me. I now use this about every other day (sometimes in the morning, sometimes at night) and it has worked wonders. I have it in the Peppermint flavor which smells incredible and provides that extra bit of freshness after I brush my teeth.

Now on to makeup...

During the week, I either wear very little or no makeup at all. If I choose to wear makeup, I stick to a simple routine that brightens my face and accentuates my features, all the while looking like I'm not wearing any makeup at all.  With these 6 products, I achieve a natural, "my-face-but-better" look in just a few minutes!

Step One: EVEN SKIN TONE
While I have owned and used foundation in the past, I find that it tends to look very heavy on my skin. In fact, I currently don't even have any foundation in my current makeup collection. In the past, I would only use it for special occasion or if my face was looking really rough. These days I alternate between BB Cream & CC cream, but I tend to use my L'oreal Paris Nude Magique BB Cream (In light or fair--I'm actually not sure which color I have. In Spanish, it's "piel clara", so it really could be either) more. The consistency is very watery & blends like a dream. While this is a tad darker than my natural skin tone, I don't mind---it just makes me look like I've got a bit of a tan. I love how smooth & even this makes my skin look and it feels so light on! What's interesting to note about this BB Cream is that when you squirt it out, it is white with some very tiny, grayish-brown speckles in it. When you blend, it transforms into a nude-colored liquid.

Step Two: CONCEAL THOSE CIRCLES
It doesn't matter whether I get six hours of sleep or ten, I get dark circles regardless. The Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer (in nude) comes in a pen with brush applicator tip. It's easy to apply, blends beautifully, and really brightens the under eye area. I also love the creamy-liquid formula, as I find other concealers that come in a pot or pan tend to be drying under my eyes, crease easily and accentuate wrinkles. This is a product that I think I will definitely be repurchasing when I'm finished. Although, I have also heard rave reviews about another concealer from Maybelline: The Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer. What's the consensus on this one? Let me know!

Step Three: BUILD UP THOSE BROWS
I am an over-plucker (and yes, I just made up that term). I used to think the slimmer the eyebrows the better, but now I know how a nicely shaped, bold brow can really transform your face. I started filling in my brows about a year ago when I died my hair red and wanted my brows to match. At that time, I used the darker of the two colors in the Lorac Take a Brow- Brow Kit (in auburn), but now as my hair is naturally lightening to a dark blonde/strawberry blonde, I use the lighter color to fill in my brows. As for the CK One Brow Pencil + Gel Duo (in foxy redhead), I just use one end of the two-sided product. The colored pencil is too dark for my brows now, So I only use the brow brush with clear gel to keep my brows in place during the day.

Step Four: COAT THOSE LASHES
Mascara, where would I be without you? I think mascara was the first makeup product I ever wore and it will remain one of my staples. I love the look of full, long super black lashes, whether I'm wearing any other makeup or not. Lately I've been using the Maybelline One by One Volum' Express Mascara which does a really great job at separating my lashes, and since that is high on my check list for a good mascara, I'm very pleased. Will I repurchase? I'm not sure. While I do really like it, I also love to try out new mascaras whenever I get the chance...always looking for the best!

Step Five: ADD SOME TINT TO THOSE LIPS
I like to add some color to my face via my lips. As much as I think it's fun to wear colorful lipstick (be it bright or dark), I would look pretty ridiculous wearing that to work. So, to add a bit of color, while hydrating my lips, I like to wear a tinted lip balm. I really love the NYX Butter Lip Balm, which I have in a few different tints. The one I have featured here is Parfait, which is a medium-bright cool-toned pink color.

  3. I definitely love the Maybelline: The Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer - I've re-purchased a few times. I have very fair/sensitive skin so once I find something that works well, I can't switch it up that much. I def. need to try this Body Shop face spray tho bc moisturizers are a hit or miss with me.

    1. Another great review for the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind...I guess that means I must try it!
As for moisturizers being hit or miss, I completely understand you. I feel like it's so hard to make my skin happy when it comes to moisturizers---usually my skin tends to be on the dry side, so I'll gravitate towards a thicker moisturizer, but then that makes me break out! So far, I'm very pleased with this face spray from The Body Shop and would definitely recommend it!
Thanks for stopping by, Amy! xx
