Happy Bday to Me!

Yes, this birthday post a bit "belated"...... actually, it's over a week late, but as I've always believed, your birthday shouldn't last for just a day, it should last for the whole month! On September 19th, I turned twenty-seven, and it wasn't so bad! And I have to say, the last couple of years AFTER twenty-five have been more enjoyable than the couple of years BEFORE twenty-five. Well, except twenty-one and twenty-two....those were awesome.

My actual birthday was pretty low-key, and honestly that's exactly how I like it to be. It involved chilling at home, visiting the Ulta store that just so happened to open in my hometown on my birthday (lucky me!) and some homemade pizza cooked on the grill outside, followed by a delicious cake made by my mom. This year I asked for a Pumpkin Cake with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting (recipe here) and it was SO delectable, even down to the last crumb, which we finished three short days later.

As usual, my mom decked the entire house in birthday decorations!

I'd have to say my favorite detail were the freshly cut flowers that she put in my bathroom...

And then there was pizza....

Homemade dough, cooked to perfection on the grill...doesn't get much better than that!

As for the Pumpkin Cake with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting....simply amazing!
I just love "fall-flavored" things. ;-)

On Sunday evening, we went out to a seafood restaurant, Blue Point Grill, in Princeton which was nothing short of amazing. The original plan was to go the night of my birthday, but they were completely booked! I checked for reservations the following day, and they were completely booked that night too! Kind of annoying? Yes. But, a restaurant that is booked all the time is a very good sign, and a testament to how amazing the food must be! Finally, on Sunday, we were able to get a reservation, and it was so yummy! While I was home I ate SO MUCH SEAFOOD. I've missed it, but am happy to say that in the couple of weeks I was home, I got my fill! :-D

I honestly can't wait to go back to this restaurant again, and hopefully bring Tomas with me! I know he would LOVE it.

Finally, we wrapped up the amazing birthday celebrations in the US and I headed back to Argentina. The day I got back, Tomas took me out for a birthday dinner at our favorite restaurant, Sarkis. You have to wait about an hour to be seated, but it is SO worth it.  Here's a pic of us before heading out for dinner, with me excitedly sporting my new over-the-knee boots (birthday present from my parents...that was what was inside the white box above!).

Overall, it was quite a wonderful birthday and I'm so glad I got to celebrate with so many different people!
Cheers to 27!

A Day in NYC

Last week I went into NYC for approximately 24 hours for an early birthday celebration with my birthday twin and friend from college, Quincy and then headed over to Brooklyn to spend some Q.T. with my brother, Gregory and his girlfriend, Carolyn.

When I got into NYC on Wednesday afternoon, Carolyn treated me to a special manicure at Primp & Polish for my bday! I've admired Carolyn's nails ever since I've known her (When it comes to all things beauty, she's your gal. And, she just recently started her own beauty blog, Beauty Queen Routine!) and the secret to her fabulously manicured nails is that she gets them done at Primp & Polish! They do these amazing, intricately designed gel polish manicures (see all the amazingness here) that are to die for. I brought in a photo of Cheetah face these nails I found on Pinterest, and the nail artist did a great job recreating it! I'm so happy I got the chance to go, and a week later I am still here gazing at my cute nails...

On Wednesday evening, I headed back into Manhattan for the birthday dinner with my friends! (Thank you girls for that special treat!)Unfortunately, I arrived late because I had no idea how long it would take me to get from Brooklyn to Manhattan, and arriving in a bit of a fluster, I forgot to take photos at dinner!  I did manage to snap these shots after dinner on my way home...

It must be pretty awesome to get to see this view everyday....

Looking up, admiring the Empire State never gets old.

The next morning I spent chilling in Brooklyn, hanging out with my new BFF (Best Feline Friend), Simon.  Now Tomas is never going to hear the end of it, about how I think we should add a cat to our family (haha). Maybe in a few years...

Cat photo overload? Maybe, but I just couldn't get enough of him. ;-)

After spending the morning with Simon, I met up with my brother for lunch. We went to The Breslin gastropub at the Ace Hotel. Really cool restaurant with some pretty amazing fish & chips. I also had a pretty delicious drink called the "little jumbo ginger brew", which I would drink every day if I could! Sorry there's no photos.... I always feel pretty awkward taking photos of restaurant food & decor.

Afterwards, I walked downtown to Union Square and then took the subway back to Brooklyn to do a little shopping!

Passed an empanada truck! Always cool to see Argentine influences in the US. :-)

NYC in the distance...

Finally, I finished the day with a lovely dinner at Alta with Gregory & Carolyn!

Thanks for a wonderful time, guys!
And, while I could never live in NYC, I always thoroughly enjoy my visits. :-D
