Date Night

Last night Tomas and I went out to one of our favorite restaurants in Buenos Aires....

NOLA is a gastropub located in the Palermo Viejo neighborhood that serves typical New Orleans cuisine.  The gastropub is owned by an Argentine-North American couple (he's from Argentina, she's from the United States), which we love because we can relate! Cajun flavors, homemade sauces and brewed beers by the owners themselves, PLUS a cool, laid-back atmosphere EQUALS the recipe for the perfect date night spot for Tomas and myself!

Last night, we shared the mollejas (a usual choice for us), and also tried the two specials of the day: chicken & waffles and homemade nuggets with a sriracha mayonese. And, as if that wasn't enough, we polished off a classic chicken sandwich before heading home. When it gets colder out, I'm sure we'll be back for the gumbo! YUM.

I got changed quickly before we went out, and I ended up really liking the look I put together, so I had Tomas take some OOTD shots for me. What do you guys think? These are the kind of outfits that define my style here in Buenos Aires.

Wearing:
Blouse - Free People
Sleeveless Tee - Gypsy Warrior
Jeans - American Eagle
Boots - Dr. Martens
Bag - Gypsy Warrior

    1. Thanks, Leigh! It's funny because I'm not that big of a fan of the shirt I'm wearing buttoned-up. Wearing it open, like a jacket.... GAME CHANGER.

  4. I was in love with your top before I noticed it was Free People. Now it makes even more sense, haha. I love how you still look city-minimal (is that even a real title) but with enough flow to make it a stand-out outfit! Also, BA has gumbo now... brb moving.

    1. Thanks, Liz! (I always want to call you Liz, but do you go by Elizabeth?...I know that's your name on screen...but then your blog used to be called Lamenting Lizzie...let me know which one you prefer!)
I never thought to wear that Free People top unbuttoned as a jacket before....and I like it so much better! I was pleasantly surprised with the end result! Oh, and I will wear that "city-minimal" title proudly! haha

Since I moved to Buenos Aires, more and more cool places to eat keep popping up (and thank god for that because the food scene was lacking when I first arrived....well it's still lacking in my opinion, but it is MUCH better now). This gastropub, NOLA, just opened up about a year ago, and it's one of our favorite places to go! The gumbo is serious.

    1. Thanks, Kaley! The "jacket" is actually a button-up shirt I decided to wear as a jacket, and I have to say I prefer it as a jacket than a shirt!

    1. I could really go for some cajun comfort food right now-----it's so cold out! And by cold, I mean 55 degrees, but I've become a wimp when it comes to the cold living in Buenos Aires for so long haha
      Thanks, Rach!

  9. I literally just went to New Orleans a couple of weeks ago! Aaaand now I want to go back, haha. You really cant beat the food there- I can eat chicken and waffles and crawfish and alligator for daaaays. God, I'm getting home sick for it and it's not even my home haha.

Also love your look- that little kimono thing made it so chic and cute :)

  11. Yummy! Nola seems like a great place to go someday. And it's cute that the owners have a very similar story than yours :)
Love your "ootn" as it is comfortable yet stylish. tThat blouse is the perfect dose of pattern for the outfit. Oh, btw! Could you please give me your e-mail adress so we can talk about our collab together? I'm really excited 'cause I haven't done any collaboration with other blogger till now!! :D
    Thanks dear! xx

    1. Next time you are in Buenos Aires, I'd suggest going to NOLA! Such a cool vibe, and very different from everything else out there. What's the restaurant scene like in Salta?

And my email is chrystin@gmail.com! If you email me during the week and don't hear back from me, don't worry, I just rarely have time to answer emails and blog, but Sundays & Mondays are my days to catch up on everything!

  12. Aweee you and Tomas look so cute together! That restaurant you talked about in Buenos aires, truly sounds amazing! specially when you mentioned they brew their own beer (yummy!). I'm originally from Peru and my husband is from U.S. so I live in Ohio... so I kind of relate too! haha there is nothing like merging two different cultures through love :) the outfit you ended up wearing is super cute! love the boots!

    1. I love the fact that we can merge two cultures...it's like each of us brings something special and different to the table, as I'm sure is the case with you and your husband, too!

Looking at these food pictures is making me hungry all over again! That gastropub is the cutest place with some really delicious food!

Glad you liked me outfit, too! Sometimes our best looks are the ones that we don't put that much thought into!
